1955: Company is founded when Earl Sween buys the Stewart In-Fra-Red Sandwich Company of Minnesota
1957: Opened a Torpedo Shop at the Minnesota State Fair - still going strong
1960's: Added Wisconsin, the Dakotas, Montana and Wyoming to the existing
territories of Minnesota, Nebraska and Iowa
1962: Developed into the #2 Stewart Sandwich franchise
1967: Opened the first phase of current manufacturing plant–20,000
square feet then - it is now about 100,000
1970's: Microwave ovens become common and distribution focus shifted
to convenience stores
1970's: Added Kansas City, Wichita, Missouri, Oklahoma, St. Louis and
Seattle
1974: E.A. Sween Company is the 1st USDA inspected sandwich facility
1974: Tom Sween becomes President
1980: Stewart Sandwich franchise ends; Deli Express® is born
1980's: Expansion into Colorado, Texas and additional North Central states
1984: Present headquarters is completed
1988: Implemented hand held data terminals to provide instant information
on sales and inventory for better service to our customers
1991: Initiated Total Quality Improvement Process
1993: Combined Distribution Centers is formed
2001: Deli Express® is inducted into the convenience store industry Hall of Fame
2002: Deli Express® receives Award of Excellence from the American Tasting Institute
2005: Celebrates 50th Anniversary
2006: CSP Finalist for Best New Product - San Luis® Mexican Bakery
